The Rolex GMT-Master II with its iconic Pepsi bezel remains one of the most important references in my own collecting journey. It was one of the watches that really sparked my passion for collecting, and back then I was constantly looking for examples with beautifully faded bezels. Prices were considerably lower at the time, but the model was already highly sought-after — and its appeal has certainly not diminished over the years.
Case
The case is exceptionally well preserved, with the originally drilled lugs still present — a characteristic detail of the earlier Ref. 16710 examples. The proportions of the lugs are very crisp and, together with the overall condition of the watch and bracelet, present a very coherent picture.
The watch dates to May 1998, making this an earlier example of the Ref. 16710. The drilled lug holes are an increasingly sought-after detail among collectors and are rarely found on later examples.
Dial
The dial is in excellent condition, with the white-gold hands and applied hour markers remaining clean and well preserved. There is no visible tarnishing or significant discoloration, giving the dial a very crisp overall appearance.
The combination of the classic black dial with the red and blue Pepsi bezel remains one of the most recognizable configurations in the GMT-Master family.

This example comes as a Full Set, including the original box, outer carton, booklets and accompanying documentation.
The watch was originally sold in Vienna in May 1998, making the Austrian provenance another particularly nice detail of this example.
