The Rolex GMT-Master II with the Pepsi bezel will always remain an important reference for me. The reason behind this is that it was one of the cornerstones of my passion for collecting. Back then, I was always on the hunt for an example with a beautifully faded pink bezel. Price-wise, we were at a much lower level in those days (around €4,000, to be precise) — but the model was no less sought-after, and that has not changed over the years.
Case
A quick glance at the lugs is enough to know that this is most likely the first polish. They are exceptionally well preserved and, set in context with the condition of the bracelet, entirely coherent. The clasp bears the code MA, and the serial number begins with D, so both were manufactured in 2005. Since the watch was sold in 2006 according to the warranty card, it most likely sat in stock for a year. As mentioned in the introduction, I am always a fan of a beautifully faded ghost bezel. That said, there is still something special about being the one who fades it yourself, after many years of wearing it.
Dial
The dial is without flaw, and the white gold hands and indices are neither tarnished nor do they show fingerprints or soiling. From this, we can conclude that the watch was always serviced professionally.
Set
Here we have a prime example of a full set. All booklets are present, and the hangtag and box, including the outer carton, are there as well. The watch was first delivered in Germany in 2006 and was carefully worn and maintained thereafter.
