Here we have an unusual Patek Philippe Calatrava from 1945. This model has perhaps the most distinctive lugs of all — so-called tear drop lugs. The watch also comes in a very rare size of 35 mm for its era, which is why it wears surprisingly modern on the wrist.
Case
The case is made of 18 kt rose gold and is in lovely, lightly polished condition. As mentioned above, the lugs are hard to beat when it comes to extravagance. They sit almost higher than the plexiglass crystal, which makes the watch wear "close" to the wrist. The crown is still the original one; it is slightly bent, but it was not replaced during the Patek service.
Dial
The dial was originally delivered in a beautiful salmon tone. On the right-hand side there is some light discoloration, and the color has lightly patinated and become somewhat speckled. All in all, at an age of 80 years, this is only to be expected. The wonderful thing, though, is that it is free of any restoration and is therefore offered here in original condition.
Set
The watch was serviced by Patek Philippe in 2025. For this reason, the piece comes with an Extract from the Archives of Patek Philippe. The watch was manufactured in 1945 and then sold on 1 March 1946.
